System Types

Grid-Tied Solar Systems

Connected to the local utility grid and allow for excess energy to be fed back into the grid, however these systems typically do not provide power during a grid outage because of safety reasons – they’re designed to shut down when grid power goes out to prevent potentially harmful “backfeeding” of electricity.

Hybrid Solar Systems

Hybrid systems combine solar power with a battery storage solution. They are grid-tied systems with extra independence – they can store surplus solar power not used immediately and use it when needed (for example, during peak usage times or at night). Importantly, these systems can provide power during a grid outage, offering a reliable backup energy source.

Off-Grid Solar Systems

These systems are completely independent from the electricity grid and rely entirely on solar energy and battery storage. They are ideal for remote locations where grid connection is either unavailable or too expensive. One specific application is solar powered irrigation systems that deliver water to agricultural lands in remote areas, ensuring regular and timely irrigation
enhancing the productivity and profitability of these farms.

Solar-Plus Storage Microgrids

A microgrid is a small-scale power grid that can operate independently or in conjunction with the main electrical grid. Commercial and industrial facilities may install a microgrid combining solar power, storage (batteries) and often other sources of power like generators. This allows for the greatest level of resilience as the system can operate completely offgrid if needed and can manage its power to optimize for cost,
environmental impact, and reliability.
